The following are excellent supplements to searching with Summon, and are likely to find you important extra material:

• Art & Architecture Source an important journal article collection, only partly searched by Summon
• Google Scholar: an alternative to Summon
  • more info about Scholar
  • video intro to Scholar (3 mins)
• Directory of Open Access Journals searches many free journals at once
• repositories are collections of articles, dissertations and other research outputs, made freely available online by universities and other institutions.  The link is to a guide which gives more info, including easy ways of searching across repositories.
• Bibliography of the History of Art gives details, but not the text itself, of books and articles. A similar service is offered by ARTbibliographies Modern and OpenBibArt.
