This guide is intended to assist Sotheby's Institute of Art - New York students with the ProQuest/UMI Thesis submission process.
ProQuest/UMI has partnerships with over 700 universities and disseminates and archives over 90,000 new graduate works each year making the works available through library subscription databases and or for purchase. ProQuest/UMI is currently the largest thesis and dissertation subscription resource and is used by scholars worldwide. ProQuest/UMI is also the Library of Congress Offsite Digital Repository for dissertations and theses.
When you publish your thesis with ProQuest/UMI, you will sign an agreement form granting ProQuest/UMI a non-exclusive license to duplicate and distribute your thesis and to publish the abstract that you prepare. You retain the copyright in your thesis, and you keep the right to publish your thesis elsewhere, in book form or as separate articles. ProQuest prepares a microfilm copy of the dissertation ensuring your work is always accessible as technology evolves.

This is a subset of the much larger ProQuest Dissertations & Theses database. It provides convenient full-text access to only SIA-NY theses for the Sotheby's Institute of Art community. There are hundreds SIA-NY theses from 2011 onward available for SIA students in New York, London and Los Angeles to consult online.
