Artstor
Searchable database of more than 1 million images. Covers many time periods and cultures, and documents the fields of architecture, painting, sculpture, photography, decorative arts, design, and many other forms of visual culture. 

To download, print or bookmark images, you will need to create a personal account after you have logged in. To do this, click Register in the Login box on the top right hand corner. Then fill in the form that appears, using your SIA email address.

• bookmarking Artstor images:  select ADD TO GROUP.  You can create a new group, or add the image to an existing group.  Groups can be private to you, or visible to others, as you choose. Once you have created one or more groups, access them from the Browse menu on the Artstor homepage
• downloading and printing Artstor images: select DOWNLOAD.  You can then print the downloaded image. 

Artstor images can also be found via JSTOR, and many appear in Summon. From JSTOR, it is possible to log in to your Artstor account, necessary for downloading some images.  However your bookmarked images cannot be accessed from here.

Grove Art Online: images
This scholarly reference work includes many images.  To find them, first run a search for your subject. On the results page, tick Image in the left-hand column, and then hit Update, as shown below:

63,000 images, though size and quality are disappointing compared with ARTstor. To access the image collection, choose Images from the top menu.
