Art fairs and biennials: Other libraries

Resources for studying art fairs and biennials.

The SIA library aims to have copies of all important English-language books about art fairs in general, and many of those about biennials in general.   You will however need to visit other libraries for some studies of particular fairs and biennials over time, and many catalogues of individual editions of the same.  There is no single go-to library for these. For instance, no one library has a complete run of Frieze catalogues

Library Hub Discover will tell you which libraries keep the books you are interested in, and also allows searching by topic.

Library Hub Discover does not tell you which of the libraries it lists you can access. For this info see:

A few important libraries are not included in Library Hub Discover. For instance iniva holds some catalogues of biennials in the Global South which are hard to find elsewhere.

The database World's Fairs is available at the National Art Library. MA students can also access it at Senate House Library.

WorldCat will find you fair catalogues and  books in other libraries worldwide.  Coverage is uneven; e.g. there are some major African cities with no libraries included.

The SIA librarians will help you find books and access libraries anywhere in the world: though please note our knowledge of many countries is limited.
