Summon

Use this search box to access a wide range of global newspapers, such as the Financial Times, Folha de S.PauloMail & Guardian (South Africa), New York Times, South China Morning Post, Times of IndiaWall Street Journal, Washington Post, and many more.

The search box takes you to a link for each newspaper, from which you can then search within the newspaper itself.

Some newspaper content can be accessed via Summon. Run your search, and then filter by CONTENT TYPE - Newspaper Article to see newspaper content only:

If you cannot immediately see the Newspaper Article option, scroll down to see the full range of Content Type options.

All the US newspaper content from the US Major Dailies collection is included in Summon, including the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post.

Nexis Uni includes many newspapers. Links from Summon to this database are often unreliable, so it is often better to search within Nexis Uni itself.  Some content in Nexis Uni, e.g. the UK Guardian, is also available for free on the newspapers' own websites.

MA students can access more newspaper databases at Senate House Library, including American Indian Newspapers, ANNO - Austrian Newspapers Online, British Library Newspapers, the Daily Mail Historical Archive (1896-2016), International Newsstream, OneFile News, the Guardian and the Observer (1791-2003), the Scotsman (1817-1950), Service Newspapers of World War Two and the Times Digital Archive (London Times, 1785 onwards).

See the next section of this guide for the Art Newspaper.
