Read aloud: ProQuest inc. Ebook Central

How to activate text-to-audio feature on different platforms, so you can listen to your readings.

ProQuest journal and newspaper articles are sometimes available as PDFs, sometimes as webpages, and sometimes there is a choice.

ProQuest's read-aloud feature is only available for webpages, which are described simply as Full text, as shown below:

Choose the Full text option to access the article, and you will see a Listen button:

Features available:

  • choice of reading speeds
  • downloadable MP3 file for offline listening

In the case of ProQuest articles only available as PDFs, you can use any suitable third party app, such as NaturalReader. It will generally be better to download the PDF, rather than asking the app to read it online.

Ebook Central does not have its own read-aloud feature. However it provides much accessibility information if you want to use an external app to read these e-books.  As with all platforms, do contact the library, for instance by emailing library@sia.edu, if you need help with any features.
