Searching social media and online news: Overview

For current events in the art world, and for emerging artists, it may not be possible to find enough relevant scholarly material such as journal articles.  It may be necessary to search social media and online news sources as well.

Please note: when citing a non-scholarly source in an assignment, it is often wise to indicate that you are aware it is not academically reputable, and to indicate why you are nevertheless making use of it.

The Chicago Manual of Style provides rules for citing blogs and social media content.
