What is Chat Reference?

Chat Reference is available at the Sotheby's Institute of Art New York Library.  

The service is primarily intended for the Sotheby's Institute of Art community (faculty, students and staff).  

Chat Reference is designed to assist users with brief questions, such as identifying the appropriate resources to answer a question or how to locate a specific resource. More complex questions usually require an alternative method of communication, such as an email exchange.

Research consultations allow you to meet one-on-one with a reference librarian to discuss your research needs. These appointments are tailored to you, and can, for example, focus on identifying and locating sources for a research project, instruction on using a specific database, or even offer a refresher course on library research.
